1. Introduction
ABU ROBOCON 2026
The largest university robotics competition in Asia-Pacific organized by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) since 2002. Its mission is to foster exchange and collaboration among young people in engineering, technology, and innovation. This year Hong Kong, China returns as the host! We are inviting students to design an event poster that embodies curiosity, creativity, and the engineering spirit that drives Hong Kong forward. We require the use of AI tools somewhere in your workflow and demonstrate how to communicate accurately with AI.
2. Eligibility
Who can enter: Secondary schools in Hong Kong, Secondary Students
Supervision: Teachers/mentors may advise but must not produce any part of the artwork.
3. Theme & Design Objectives
Your poster should:
Promote the "ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2026" (ABU Robocon 2026)—themed “KUNG FU QUEST” and featuring 16 teams from 15 different countries or regions—to the general public through students' creative poster designs for the event to be held on August 23, 2026

Additionally, every submission must include the exact AI prompt used to generate any creative elements. This demonstrates precise communication with AI tools.
Incorporate the following elements into your design (not essential). If these terms are featured in the artwork, they must be used in their entirety:

It is strictly prohibited to use, piece together, or modify any national or regional flags, as well as the official crests, logos, or emblems of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers (ABFYE),or any tertiary institutions.
4. Mandatory AI Tools & Disclosure
We insist that participants use generative AI during their process. To keep the competition transparent and fair:
4.1. Allowed tools (non‑exhaustive)
Microsoft Copilot / Designer, DALL·E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion (local or hosted), Adobe Firefly/Illustrator Generative tools, and similar.
4.2. Authorship & originality
The submission must be your original work. Do not use pre‑made logo templates, clip‑art logos, or replicate protected marks.
You are responsible for ensuring your use of AI tools produces outputs that are permitted for commercial/branding use under each tool’s license.
4.3. Prohibited content
Infringing or confusingly similar designs, hateful/unsafe content, real corporate or university marks, or outputs banned by the tools’ policies.
5. Technical Requirements & Submission Format
5.1 Images to upload
Image Dimensions & Aspect Ratio
- The image must have a resolution of 2714 × 3840 pixels (Width : Height).
Image Format
- Submit the image in JPG or PNG format. Participants must ensure the image has sufficient resolution to display all elements of the work clearly, including text and graphics.
5.2 AI Documentation
- Submit all prompts used to generate the final output in TXT or DOC format.
5.3 File naming: ROBOCON2026_<School_StudentName>.jpg/png/doc/txt

If there is any discrepancy in the information given out through other channels, you may refer to this version as the final version.
6. Judging Criteria
- Creativity and Concept - Clarity of the poster's theme and its ability to accurately convey the core concepts of the ABU Robocon 2026.
- Visual and Layout – Layout logic: Clear visual hierarchy with a distinct focus and smooth visual flow.
- Prompt and Generation – Prompt precision: The ability to translate complex requirements into precise language that AI can understand (Prompt Engineering).
- Accessibility and Clarity – Legible typography, colour contrast, and simplicity.
- Craft and AI Use - Quality of prompt engineering and post‑processing craft (Manual post-processing is allowed after AI use).
7. Important Dates
- Submission Deadline: Sunday, 15th July 2026 (11:59 pm)
- Winners Announced: By the end of July 2026
8. Intellectual Property (IP) & Usage
Winning Entry
The winner assigns the copyright and all IP in the final poster to RTHK and ABFYE. The organiser may adapt, recolour, or create derivatives for different media.
Non-winning Entries
Participants retain copyright; RTHK and ABFYE receive a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display entries for exhibition, judging, archival, and publicity of the competition.
9. Use of Personal Data
- Participant data will be used solely for administration, communication, judging, and publicity related to this competition.
- Non-winning entries’ personal data will be deleted within 6 months after all competition activities conclude; winners’ data will be retained as necessary for record and usage of the winning poster.
10. Disqualification
Entries may be disqualified if they:
- Breach originality/IP or use restricted assets/marks.
- Contain prohibited content or violate applicable laws/policies.
11. Terms & Conditions
- No entry fees. All submission costs are borne by participants.
- The organiser assumes no responsibility for network/technical issues affecting upload/delivery.
- The organiser’s decisions on eligibility, judging, and awards are final.
- The organiser may modify timelines or withhold awards if entries are unsuitable.
- By submitting, participants confirm they have the rights to all elements (including AI generated outputs) and agree to the IP and Privacy terms herein.
